Wuppertal Zoo Society - Nature conservation
Charity concert for the conservation of endangered species
In 2007 the Wuppertal Zoo Society was the first West German zoo society, in cooperation with the Gemeinschaft Deutscher Zooförderer (Community of German Zoo Societies) that gave a charity concert for wildlife conservation. The Mayor, Peter Jung, agreed to become patron of the concert. On Saturday, October 6 the Pepe Lienhard Orchestra, an entertaining orchestra in great demand in German-speaking Europe, delighted its audience at the Historischen Stadthalle Wuppertal (Historic City Hall Wuppertal). Rousing music and a wild sound were rewarded with standing ovations.
At the outcome of the concert € 20,000 was presented to the wildlife conservation projects. The Zoo and the Wuppertal Zoo Society support the resettlement of the Midwife Toad in Bergischen Land and the conservation project for the South Andean Deer (Huemul) in South America. The Community of German Zoo Societies supports the global amphibian conservation programme of the World Association of Zoos and Aquaria (WAZA).
Sponsors for the conservation of endangered species
Various businesses supported the Wuppertal Zoo Society to hold the charity concert as sponsors for the conservation of endangered species. Many thanks to all sponsors for your commitment!
