Directions to the Wuppertal Zoo

Arrival by suspension railway (Schwebebahn)

Schwebebahn mit Zoo-Motiven

Float to the Zoo – you can only do this in Wuppertal! A visit to the Wuppertal Zoo is easily combined with a trip on the famous Schwebebahn. This overhead suspension railway is our most famous landmark. As the entire train system lies within the city of Wuppertal you can use the all-in-one ticket for the Zoo + transport (Kombi-Karten), which we offer together with the VRR public transport system. It is only a few minutes walk from the Schwebebahn station "Zoo/Stadion". The entry to the Zoo is in Hubertusallee. For information on the Schwebebahn and train schedule go to: www.schwebebahn.de.

Arrival by train

You can also reach our Zoo easily by train. Within the city of Wuppertal you can use the the all-in-one ticket for Zoo and transport (Kombi-Karte) which we offer together with the VRR. Get out at the station "Wuppertal Zoologischer Garten" on the regional train (S-Bahn) line no. 8 (Hagen-Mönchengladbach) and line no. 9 (Haltern/Bottrop-Wuppertal) and we're only a short walk away. Arrival by car

By car you can reach us on the A46, L74 and B224 when you leave the motorway at Wuppertal-Sonnborn.  Follow the signs "Zoo" and "Stadion" which are close together. If you come from the East take the A46 exit Wuppertal-Varresbeck and follow the signs to the Zoo. The larger parking areas are marked on the diagram. The entry to the Zoo is in Hubertusallee.

Park + Ride

Park + Ride-Anlagen in Wuppertal

The combination of car and local public transportation in Wuppertal is a particularly attractive way to get to the Zoo. Get off at the suspension railway station "Zoo/Stadion" or if travelling by regional train (S-Bahn) on lines no. 8 or 9 at the "Zoologischer Garten" station and walk a few minutes to the Zoo entry. Within Wuppertal there several P+R parking areas, which provide easy access to public transportation systems, at many of the stations along the suspension railway and regional train (S-Bahn) lines.
