Lina the Hippopotamus (1950)
On 1 April 1950 "Lina" the female Hippopotamus from the Munich Hellabrunn animal park came to Wuppertal. Unfortunately, until 1991 she lived in a very restricted enclosure in the old elephant house, which is now the tapir house. "Lina" was one of the most famous Wuppertal Zoo animals and for over four decades was the visitors' darling.
