Animal enclosures
The animal enclosures close
- in summer about 45 minutes before closing time (5.15 p.m.).
- in winter about 15 minutes before closing time (4.45 p.m.).
The aquarium closes
- in summer about 60 minutes before closing time (5.00 p.m.).
- in winter about 30 minutes before closing time (4.30 p.m.).
For internal reasons animal enclosures can be temporarily shut at any time. Please refer to the notice board at the respective enclosure.

Regular feeding times
Spectators can watch regular feeding of the Sea Lions, Penguins and Big Cats. For times please check the notice board at the entry of the Zoo.

Elephant care und Tapir bathing
Spectators can watch during the regular bathing times of the Tapirs. The Elephants receive daily training and body care.

Wagons, Buggy's and wheelchairs
are available at the Zoo checkout. Buggy's and Small wagons are available for a rental fee of € 3.50 and a deposit of € 50.00. Wheelchairs are available free of charge. We advise making a telephone reservation for a wheelchair in advance (563-3600).

Lavatories, facilities for the handicapped and baby changing rooms
Lavatories, facilities for the handicapped and baby changing rooms are available all over the Zoo. Please look for the signs.
Facilities for the handicapped can be found in the toilets above the great ape enclosure, near the new tiger enclosures and next to the "Waldschänke" forest café (which is only open in summer).
Baby changing rooms can be found near the music shell stage by the circular flower bed, and at the new tiger enclosures.

The children's playground with giant slide, tube slide, etc. can be found below the forest café close to the elephant enclosure.

Route maps and souvenirs
Route maps and Zoo guides are available at the checkout and the Zoo shop for a small fee.
Souvenirs and mementos such as Zoo calendars, post cards, stuffed animals, etc. can be bought at the Zoo shop at the entrance, or at the kiosk in the Valley of the Tigers (only on weekends and public holidays during the summer months).

Please note that for safety reasons, you are not allowed to bring bicycles, scooters or other children's vehicles as well as musical instruments, radios or balloons into the Zoo. Thank you for your understanding.

Photography at the Zoo
Photographs taken at the Zoo are allowed for private use. This also includes publication on private websites or on non-commercial photographic forums. If you publish photographs taken at the Wuppertal Zoo on the Internet, then these images should only be 72 dpi in minimum length so that illicit use by a third party can be ruled out.
All commercial usage of photographs taken at our Zoo requires authorisation from the Zoological Gardens. This also includes the use of photographs for sale offers on Internet platforms. We must be informed of photographs you intend to use for this purpose and, on a case-by-case basis, authorisation will be given. A standard fee of €20 per photograph will be charged for such authorisation. Authorisation is only valid and binding upon payment, and covers publication in the authorised manner only and not for further use by third parties.
