The monkey house outdoor enclosure (1985)
In 1985 when the old monkey house was totally renovated the Zoo Society offered to finance a further outdoor enclosure. This enabled the Red Ruffed Lemurs which are prosimians, to be closely observed. They live in the Madagascan forests where they are losing their habitat due to the continual logging of trees.
The Zoo Society is supporting a protection project on Madagascar.
