Wuppertal Zoo Society - Nature conservation

Since 2009 the Zoo Society has been supporting the Black-footed Cat Working Group in their efforts to protect and research this rare small cat in South Africa. The Group is an international cooperation of proven cat specialists including the Wuppertal Zoo veterinarian and Assistant Zoo Director Dr. Arne Lawrenz and Dr. Alexander Sliwa, former curator of the Wuppertal Zoo who is now curator of the Cologne Zoo.  The Group members are actively researching the Black-footed Cats in zoos and in the wild to ensure the smallest cats in Africa are protected. They are often in South Africa for study purposes.
