Similar to other scientifically led zoos, the Wuppertal Zoo works within a national and international network of societies, clubs and other institutions to exchange information and collaborate on projects.

The VdZ, which is actually the oldest zoo association in the world, draws its members from scientifically led zoological gardens in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and many other countries in Europe.


EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria)

The EAZA is a union of scientifically led zoological gardens and aquaria in Europe.


WAZA (World Association of Zoos and Aquariums)

The WAZA is the international association of zoological gardens and aquaria as well as regional and national associations known as the "World Zoo Association".

Representing the interests of zoo educators, the VPZ ist the professional body of German-speaking zoo educators with members in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Hungary.

The Wuppertal Familiy Club is made up of various partners supporting and promoting families in Wuppertal. The Zoological Gardens are one of the partners of the Club in Wuppertal.

Marketing Initiative Wuppertal

The Wuppertal marketing initiative is a campaign to improve the image of Wuppertal, while at the same time strengthening the awareness of the location in and around Wuppertal. The Wuppertal Zoological Gardens have been a partner since the start of this initiative. An image campaign for Wuppertalers which was developed in 2005 with the slogan "No-one like us" was issued with the brochure for new residents: Neubürgermappe, as a welcome to new Wuppertalers.
