Free flight aviary for Tropical Birds
Flying diamonds

Imagine you are in a tropical rainforest standing on a wide wooden path in between palms, vines and orchids, and fluttering all around you are colourful and exotic birds from the rainforests of Central and South America.

We have positioned the feeding areas among the plants so that it's really easy to see the birds eating. Be enchanted by the exotic atmosphere and enjoy the wonderful bird calls and songs of the "flying diamonds".

By the way the Wuppertal Zoo Society (Zoo-Verein Wuppertal e.V.) donated the free flight aviary in 1993 which is, as is true for the entire zoo, also a paradise for plant lovers!

The Red Cock-of-the-rocks are the most eye-catching birds in the free flight aviary. In 2004 and 2005 we were the first successful European zoological garden to breed this magnificent bird species from South America.
